Sichuan University Museum is the first university museum in Chinese history. Sichuan University Museum is located in Wuhou District, Chengdu City, Sichuan Province. It is one of the earliest and oldest museums in China's higher education institutions and in southwest China.


The museum, formerly known as the Antiquities Museum of West China Union University, was under construction in 1914. 1952 West China University was transformed into Sichuan Medical College, and the Museum of West China University was transferred to Sichuan University and renamed "Sichuan University History Museum". In 1984, the museum was separated from the History Department and officially named "Sichuan University Museum".
